Catbells is one of the most popular fells in the North Western area. Indeed, it is one of the most popular fells in all of Lakeland. The views during ascent and descent are wonderful. The climb from Nicol End has its challenges - one should not view this mountain as a 'gimme'. Just prior to the summit requires some rock climbing! Ascending from Grange is simpler but lacks the excitement and the excellent views.

After reaching the summit, the walk to Maiden Moor and High Spy is 1) very easy and 2) very rewarding. Heavenly views in all directions!
