Newlands Hause has ample parking space, making this an ideal climb for motorists who want to 'bag' a fell or two. The ascent to Knott Rigg is simple, as you are already over half way up before you start! The ridge walk to Ard Crags is also simple and the views are spectacular, especially seeing Causey Pike in the distance.

When descending, the choice is to descend Ard Crags and walk back to Newlands Hause along the floor of the lovely Newlands Valley or to simply turn about and return to Knott Rigg. Either route is rewarding.
