I really like forest walks and so have enjoyed my ascents of Lord's Seat. The best route I have done involves ascending Whinlatter from the Whinlatter Forest Centre, then proceeding North East into the valley to rejoin the forest paths to complete the ascent to Lord's Seat. This valley walk is fun, as there isn't a truly clear path and involves a lot of looking ahead and picking out the best route.

The summit of Lord's Seat is rather dull and exposed to the North, making it quite cold if there is a strong wind. Both times I have been up there has been in poor weather, so I haven't really seen the view! From Lord's Seat continuing North East to Barf is great fun if the visibility is good. It's an exercise in picking out the 'best' route through the undergrowth.

From Barf, the descent back to the Whinlatter Forest paths is easy enough and a nice cup of tea awaits in the Forest Centre's cafe!

Hardly a summit fit for a Lord! Even the stones are uncomfortable to sit on.
