Sergeant Man is to the North of the Langdale Pikes and is best visited in conjunction with the Pikes. Once Stickle Tarn is gained, an easy route to Sergeant Man is to pass Pavey Ark to the east and follow the path up to the summit. This is one of those fells, like High Raise, that is unlikely to be the objective of a day's walk but, rather, part of a circuit of the peaks in the area. The same applies to Thunacar Knott.
