The Eastern Fells
Wainwright classified the Eastern fells as the mountains that are to the east of the A591, Ambleside to Keswick road, and to the East of the B5322 Threlkeld Road, but West of Ullswater. Of course, these divisions are arbitrary, but they work well in practice.
This area is easy to get to - the main A591 runs from Kendall right up to the North of Lakeland. This was Wainwright's first Pictorial Guide and its obvious why he chose this area - he had no car, so he picked the area easiest to get to.
It's a fine area, with Helvellyn being the tallest mountain and one of the most popular. As with many of the Lakeland fells, it offers easy access from one side (the West) and more challenging access from the other - with its famous Striding Edge and Swirral Edge routes.
Wainwright described the Helvellyn as the best mountain to view the sunrise from, as it is higher than all other fells in the area, so there is nothing to block the view. Obviously, that requires an overnight camp, but the summit is broad enough for that to be done safely.

This is an area I have visited many times, but have few photographs of - most of the time I have been just passing through to Keswick, although Fornside Farm, at the foot of the Western slopes of Great Dodd is a fine place to stay.
